usually, a ghatam artist will have ghatams of several different pitches and then use clay for slight further modulation
When you listen to Karthik (this is a technique I'm sharing) allow your bones to feel each beat AND let the tympanic resonance dance around in your brain OR let it dance in your brain and resonate up and down your spine by pitch frequency -- low to high; like an inverted scale! iPod while working, by the end of the day very high.
