listen, its clear that all you cheese heads are BAND members now petending to be drum corps. If you ask most anyone that marched during inception of DCI to the late 80's, most all will agree that it was clearly the pinnacle of drum corps. But all you trombone playin, trumpet suckin, fa la dancin and prancin guard members wouldnt and dont have a clue. Part 2 coming

Additionally, I APPLAUD with vigor the booing that took place last year with the Cadets. I hope to God that it continues this year, as I believe it sends a very clear message that the paying public is fed up with this bastard hybrid sctivity.

One final thing, while those of you fruit toots that march, I applaud your dedication and hard work, but you gotta get some balls and tell those ego maniac, out of touch band instructors of yours that you refuse to play the crap that is given to you, and you want to return to the power and glory of yester year. While it's true we may never play 'Espiritu' as well as the Muchachos, it wasn't meant to imitate them, but rather to honor them as their alumni gathered for a reunion. The former Muchachos present, both those playing in the Cabs Alumni and those standing in front of us, seemed very pleased. Larry Kerchner was happy with it, I know that, and the smiles and tears of joy from those watching seemed to indicate they approved as well.

Hi John Smith, I also agree, its a tribute, & the arrangement of the CABS will never be the same as the CHACHOS or vice versa. I attended a contest this summer and saw the changes. These corps are very talented. There is only one problem; these are bands not drum corps! Whoever was in charge of the corps in the 90s let the band people take it over. They can read music, but they seem to be afraid to play the horns. Marching has been replaced by scurrying. This stuff looks like Pac-man and sounds like wind chimes. It is all very nicely choreographed but it should be called Drum and Ballet Corps. Who let this happen?

I agree with nanuetfvh. With the exception of the alumni corps, the rest are truely called drum and ballet corps. After seeing a senior show this past summer it appears that the DCA seniors are gradually dying. It`s just a matter of time that that the Cadets of Allentown will be accepting applications for flute and saxaphone players. I agree with nanuetfvh and japs52, and sadly as we die off the REAL drum corps will die also.

Here's another observation. In the old days kids could join sr.corps when they were old enough. College and H.S. band types had no where to go - well they do now- into what passes for drum corps. The old corps originated from veterans groups and had a military flair. The new corps seems to be feminized - just look at the color guards!

drum corps., back in the good ole days 70s was pure raw drum corps. now too much red tape. cabs doing the latin sabear dance and that drum major was great. bucs sucked then and still do LOL...roch crusaders were nice..skyliners, sunrisers, bonny scotts, all that was fun..oh well this vid brings back some good memories

The problem I have with tributes is this. If you going to do a tribute, then do it well to honor. The thought was great, but the end result made me cringe. Same as when Bridgemen did the 27 tribute by playing Danny Boy. That sucked so bad, that it was a slap in the face to anyone whoever marched to that song.
I dont pretend to be a God of Drum Corps. Its just that some pussy's dont like hearing the truth about things. Probably those fa-la band members. Real drum corps died in 1990.

I played mellophone for the Muchachos in 73 and 74. As I was listening to this I could still remember my part - and in some passages parts of the drill.

I do agree there has been Major changes, I miss the old days where accuracy counted & you had to stay on the field till the gun sounded.
Much videos from the 71-76 tough to find! My old DCI albums were stolen in College (tough to replace)

I was in Whitewater in 73 with Del La Salle and was very impressed with the Muchachos, they really had balls in finals.
In 75 and 76 while with OAKLAND CRUSADERS the
shoe was on the other foot. Here's to the old
days, by the way I still have my tapes from
79 DCA finals live in HERSHEY PA.
