It is a gretsch corvette, but wonder why? A big jump from the old 61 strat. If his strat was bring worked on or something seems another strat would have been his choice. Sounds great though. About the discussion below on Jimi vs Roy I bet they didn't think about. Just enjoy both, we were lucky to have them.

He got that Gretsch for a very good price and he actually had lots of different guitars. Strat was his main guitar but he wasn't loyal to one guitar only, like many guitarists often are.

I used to play in a band when I was young that played Rory's version of Bullfrog Blues. I'm 51 now and the only song people remember us playing is Bullfrog Blues. One of my friends still sings it when he's had a few drinks. Great memories, I'd love to get up with a young band and play it again, I'd blow em off the stage. lol

rnbateman: George learned a lot from Hound Dog Taylor when he was young and just begining. George opened shows for years for Hound Dog Taylor and The House Rockers. Hound Dog (Theodore) was a master of slide guitar. It's possible Hound Dog was one of Rory's early influences. Watch some of the vids. of Hound Dog, you can definately see similarities between his slide and Thorogood's.

That´s a shame, and typical of publications such as as that one. Everywhere else, (Guitarist Magazine, Planet Rock Radio etc etc) Rory has always been recognised as the guitar and blues hero that he still is. Check out his albums, especially the live ones, you will like them for sure.

Great video, Rory could really work a crowd!
By the way, the song was composed by William Harris. Rory first heard it when he toured the USA with Canned Heat, who also covered the song in their live sets (but not as superbly as Rory!)
