Websites, articles, books and documentaries have put forward a variety of alternate theories to the government's account of what happened. The most popular of these is a documentary called "Loose Change." Now, a book dealing with many of these theories has just been published by the magazine Popular Mechanics, it's called "Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up to the Facts." In a Democracy Now! national broadcast exclusive, we host a debate between the filmmakers of Loose Change and the editors of Popular Mechanics on 9/11.

Whatever the explanation it's doubtful it has to do with explosives or thermite:

The only bthing I'll offer is my opinion,Which is that the evidence for an internal pile fire resulting in glowing hot metals is nonexistant.
The fact that the pile burned for three full months under constant fire hosing, suggests that the source of the heat was not hydrocarbon combustables.
This presents a major problem with the official story and the superficial treatment of pile fire dynamics by NIST makes me even more suspicious.
I'm not satisfied and I wonder why others are so accepting

Maybe so. But accepting an alternative scenario of, say, incendiaries, seems to me no less problematic. Without doing more reseacrh I'll leave it at that. Thanks for an interesting exchange.

I wonder how people expect "solid evidence" when the government has so strongly controlled what they released to the media to sell their story. On the day, and for years afterward. There has been zero true investigative journalism in mainstream media. What we do have are lots of people who have researched what happened on the day, beforehand, and afterward. The accumulated facts point to inside job. The "solid evidence" would come with an independent investigation of the circumstantial evidence.
