Besides the fact that there Semiramis was one of the roles NOT for the technical possibilities of her Voice... sometimes I wonder, are there no GAYS in Opera Wolrd? who painted her like an ugly Ghost? Totally ridicilous for a Diva of her status...

The memorable Aix performance. Caballe did her own makeup as she always did; the 'look' if you will of the opera was decidedly Roccocco, so she used white powder in her face as was correct to the period. Her singing here is outstanding! While Caballe and Sutherland are good friends that sometimes sang the same repertoire, they both used different approaches for their interpretations to best show off their respective voices.

Out of breath constantly, not to mention the strident high notes. I love her in verismo roles but this doesn't show her at her best, especially compared in this rep with Mariella Devia, since this video was posted as a video response to Devia's interpretation of this aria.

Me da lástima que haya gente tan superficial como para despreciar esta actuación por "fea". Podríamos poner a Beyoncé con un playback de la Caballé, quizás les gustaría más. O podríamos todos aprender un poco de historia de la moda y el maquillaje para comprender que esta caracterización es ROCOCO, sea bonita o fea. Le belleza está más allá de la fachada. Aprended!
