Excellente interpretation vocale, sans doute, et de loin la meilleure, mais bon, le jeu d'actrice c'est pas ça. Elle joue ça comme si elle était désolée ! Non, ca doit être un cri de rage, de vengeance, de haine terrible ! Mais chanter un texte vengeur et d'un autre côté joué comme si on regrettait ses paroles !

see I actually liked what she did with the acting... she humanized the character a bit for me. Hear a mother's prayer! She is not some demon woman... here... she cares for pamina! shes much more loving... though frightening at the same time which I think is more compelling than just playing bad ass bitchyness which is what damrau did. Though I do love both versions just a different way to play the same ol thing! score dessay!

I completely agree with you. Dessay humanizes the role and makes the Queen look tormented, maybe mad but not completely evil.

Very bad acting indeed... Damrau is the best so far.. although Sumi Jo sang it perfectly well also, still can't beat the aura and charisma that Damrau brought out..

yes. The Queen of the Night can be "humanized" without making her mad or crazy. She's not crazy. She's the freaking Queen of the Night.
To make her so overly-sympathetic or out of control destroys the character and the deliberate actions she takes throughout the opera.
THIS SONG IS "DER HOLLE RACHE." What about the wrath of hell is caring or kind?
