Well i am fine with punk, indie, gothic etc, at least there is scope for individual taste. But "gangsta/rap/chav" seems to have very set "rules"! Named brand, global capitalist, sweat shop produced clothes, (wot the f*ck is that about, set an example for f*cks sake!), tacky gold chains and shades, imitative body gestures (hand wagging, crutch clutching, side to side, sway posturing). They all seem to be clones of each other! The guys in this vid need to eat less Big Macs too, capitalist victims!

Dude come on, dont judge what you dont understand. And reading your previous statements I can tell you dont know much. Hip-hop isnt about clothes and capitalism, its about music, and there are definitely fundamentals. Gangstarr is on of the best groups in hip-hop, and no one whos into hip-hop will tell you other wise. And speaking one your comment on goths and indie people, how are they any different? There just expressing themselves as are people envolved in hip-hop.

Young artists around these days may have been influenced by the wrong things, and mainstream hiphop has mutated into a mob mentality monopoly. Ghettos in the early 90's where rough, and alot of youths took necessary precautions. Things arent as rough any more but that mentality hasnt changed, unfortunatly. These days its like the media has taken a fine tooth comb through hip-hop and has filtered out everything good and creative and just left the bullshit image and the gangster emcee portrail.

I disagree! Hip-hop has more than run its course by now. Back in the day, i bought Grand Master Flash - The Message 12' single, maybe the first hip-hop single, but hey! what do i know, and do i care at all?!. But its so depressing to see that the genre just hasn't moved on at all. Just a lot of imitators looking for a few, or preferably a lot of quick and easy bucks!

Maybe Rap today is about capitalism, but this video was made in 1998, ten years ago. Go ask guru, the emcee of gangstarr how well off he is(money wise). You are correct, i don't know much about hip-hop, but why should I? I lost interest many years ago when i realised it was just a gravy train for pathetic wannabes looking for a meal ticket. But i am so aware that it has changed very little over the years! Its only the words that have changed, not evolved i might add! Seems that "guru" and gangstarr found an alternative and opportunist niche to actually working for a living! If they failed, i really don't care, try another formula!
